What's up, I'm Jena. I'm 17 and I'm the gay cheerleader!
Okay, so on more of a serious note I've been out for 3 years at my high school. But realizing my sexuality was a little different for me because I had this set stereotype of how lesbians were supposed to look and act. Well I didn't fit that. I have always been very feminine and well, I'm a cheerleader. So these feelings that I've always had about girls and never had about guys really confused me. I then came to realize and somewhat accept that not everyone fits in a perfect box, and being gay is just a part of who I am--and the things I do, like cheering, are simply things I like.
So PI came into the picture about a year after I came out. I really feel like PI is an awesome, inviting, and comfortable space to be yourself. Honestly, I think my favorite thing about PI is the fact that no one is ever going to judge you. Which is really quite amazing, because our society is very judgmental! (especially towards gays, but if you're reading this you most likely already know that :-)) Ok, so back to PI: I come every week not only because of my buddies who go but it's really nice to go somewhere and let things out without having to censor yourself.
As for me...I'm a peer advocate for PI which I'm so down for doing, because connecting and being able to help someone is a really good feeling for me. So I highly encourage you to feel free in contacting me, through PI especially. Hope to hear from you soon! Take care and remember:
