My name is André Morand. I'm 19 and grew up here in Sonoma County. I've been a member of Positive Images for two and a half years, since my junior year of high school. Positive Images has been a good source of support through my coming out process. In the months proceeding my coming out I was frustrated, lonely and un-happy. While it was incredibly difficult to come out, it has made my life so much easier, and my path clearer.
I've made many friends since I came out and joined Positive Images, including my boyfriend Adam. We've been together for well over a year, supported and nurtured by the community at Positive Images. I can't express how beneficial it has been for me to have a supportive group of friends who are also experiencing the same trials I face in being queer and entering adulthood.
While society never ceases to barrage gay youth with judgment, fear and anger, there are shelters from the storm. Positive Images has been mine.
